Privacy

This explains what personal data HowToUseAICleverly holds about you, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Vincenzo De Martino, Via de Lauzières 6, 80055 Portici (NA), Italy. For anything on this page, including requests about your own data, write to vincenzodemartino31@gmail.com.

What we hold

Your email address. It is how you sign in — we send you a link instead of asking you to invent a password. It is never shown to other users and never shared.

Your profile. The username you choose, and anything else you decide to add: a display name, a short bio, a link to your site. All of it is public, because that is the point of a profile. Leave the optional parts empty if you would rather not.

What you post. Posts, comments, votes, the outcomes you report on other people’s workflows, and any files you attach. All of this is public and indexed by search engines — see below.

Technical records. Our hosting providers keep server logs that include IP addresses, for a limited time, to keep the service running and to deal with abuse. We do not combine them with your account or build any profile from them.

We do not hold a password — there is not one to steal — and we never see your payment details, because there is nothing to pay for.

What you post is public. Genuinely public.

Posts and comments can be read by anyone, including people who are not signed in. Search engines index them. Other people can quote them, screenshot them, or archive them somewhere we have no control over.

This matters more here than on most sites, because the whole subject is workflows built on real work. Before you paste a prompt, look at what is inside it: customer names, colleagues’ names, internal documents, contract details, anything from your employer. Deleting a post later does not un-publish what was already read.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

• To run your account and show your content — because that is the service you asked for (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• To keep the site usable: rate limits, storage quotas, spam and abuse prevention, moderation of reports (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) — ours and every other reader’s, in a site that is not drowning in spam).
• To answer you when you write to us (legitimate interest).
• To comply with the law when we have to, for example when handling a copyright complaint (Art. 6(1)(c)).

Who else touches it

Only the companies that make the site run. None of them are allowed to use your data for their own purposes.

• Supabase — the database, the sign-in system and the uploaded files. The data is stored in the European Union (Ireland).
• Vercel — hosting. The site runs in the European Union (Dublin).

Both are United States companies, so some access from outside the EU is possible for support and operations. Those transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

We do not sell your data, and there is nobody to sell it to.

Cookies

Three, and each one does a job you asked for:

• the sign-in cookies, which keep you signed in — they disappear when you sign out;
• htuaic_locale, which remembers the language you picked;
• during local development only, a cookie that stands in for signing in. It never reaches the published site.

There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, and no third-party script anywhere on the site — which is also why you are not being asked to click through a consent banner.

How long

Your account and content stay until you delete them. Delete your account and we remove your profile and your email address; your posts and comments are removed too, unless keeping a copy is necessary to deal with an ongoing legal complaint.

Server logs are kept for a short period by the providers above. Backups roll over within weeks.

What you can ask for

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, receive it in a portable format, restrict what we do with it, or object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to vincenzodemartino31@gmail.com and we will answer within one month.

Most of it you can also just do yourself: edit your profile, delete a post, delete your account.

If you think we are handling your data badly, you can complain to a supervisory authority — the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali — or to the one in the EU country where you live.

Children

The site is not for people under 16. We do not knowingly hold data about children; if you believe we do, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top tells you which version you are reading.
